Nova Mining reached out to Sheaves Canada as they required a solution to redirect their very sensitive geophysical survey cable.
The 1 ½” geophysical survey cable required a large diameter sheave to support the d – d ratio and not damage the cable
The initial design was an aluminum sheave, 1 ½” groove, weighing 41 lbs. However after review of the initial design, Nova asked if Sheaves Canada could make the sheave even lighter to help with the portability.
The design team at Sheaves Canada reconfigured the weight reduction pattern of the sheave and was able to reduce to weight of the 24” sheave to a mere 28 lbs.
The finished product not only looks great, it is light weight and is functioning perfectly.
